Where do I enter my capital gains information?

Capital Gains

To enter your capital gains from the sale of shares, units in a trust, property, collectible, personal use asset, primary home, or other assets, refer to the steps listed below:

  1. Towards the top of the page, click the second tab titled, “Income.”
  2. On the page titled, “Income,” click the sixth box titled, “Capital Gains & Distributions from Managed Funds.”
  3. Click the green box towards the bottom of the page titled, “Save & Go.”
  4. On the page titled, “Capital Gains,” enter your prior year capital losses carried forward in the box provided.
  5. Under the section titled, “Sale of Shares, Units in a Trust, Property, Collectible, Personal Use Asset, Primary Home, or Other Asset,” click the orange button titled, “Add New Record” or the orange button titled, “Import Multiple Records by Excel” depending on your situation.
  6. If you clicked the orange button titled, “Add New Record,” enter your information in the provided fields on the page titled, “Sale of Shares, Units of Trust, Property, or Other Asset” then click the green button titled, “Save & Go.”
  7. If you clicked the orange button titled, “Import Multiple Records by Excel,” then click on the gray button titled, “Choose File,” to upload your excel sheet.
  8. Click the blue button titled, “View Capital Gains Data.”
  9. Lastly, click the green button titled, “Save & Go.”
